Not much new with us

But my friend RK had a baby! Doesn't get any better than that! Her name is Kinlee and she has her very own blog so go see the cute baby! She really is sweet; I even got to hold her the other day. Here's a pic of M getting to hold her:

Jack still doesn't have any words but he's trying more signs every day. Today the one he whipped out was "blanket". His favorite thing in the world is a very soft blue blanket that my wonderful friend Lisa embroidered with his name and birthdate. So I've been using the "blanket" sign for awhile and he just smiles. Today he did it back! The other day we were getting ready to go somewhere and I had Jack all ready to go including coat. While I was wandering around trying to get myself together I said to myself mostly "now mommy just needs her shoes and we can go" and out of the corner of my eye I saw Jack make 2 little fists and tap them together; the sign for "shoes"! What a little sweet-heart! How I love him!

I'll leave you today with a pic of what happens when your 2-yr-old eats a blue crayon (it WASN'T Crayola). Lovely.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Photobucket
See the yummy cookies that Madelyn made?
Have a lovely day!

(Okay, this looked good on the preview but I can't fix it to show the whole photo! Even if I change the size it comes out like this. Anyone have any ideas?)

We had a Good Day!

I shouldn't be surprised. It DOES happen once in awhile. There was no school because of parent/teacher conferences so we got to sleep in and hang out this morning. Then I went to lunch with 2 wonderful friends and the kids stayed home and kept Jack for me. After that, a bit of shopping (M bought herself a new mp-3 player) and we took Andrew to meet some friends for a movie and stay all night with them. Then dinner, and M made some Valentines cookies that were just yummy! (Pic coming soon.)

In other news, the house is a wreck, still haven't done our taxes, I desperately NEED to get our paperwork organized, and dishes and laundry are starting to pile up again. What the heck?! Someday I will live in a house that is semi-presentable and I will know where all our stuff is at any given time. I'm trying to do something every day. Clean something, do at least one load of laundry, and sort one section of the house at a time. Some spots are easier than others. Here in another month or so, it will be time to go through the kids clothes again, and see what fits and what needs to go away. It would be nice to get some of this other stuff done first so it's not all hanging over my head at once.

Also, Jack's buddy Braska has a new sister. Her name is Kinlee Carene and she was born 2-9-09. What an exciting day that was! It was last Mon., when Jack and Braska had school. Braska's Grandma took her to school that day and RK had asked me to go over to their house so they could follow us to school. No problem, except I was daydreaming or something and forgot to turn in to school at the right place! But we got there okay, and then Braska's grandma was able to pick her up later without having to follow me (good thing for her!). So go see the cute baby and oooo and ahhh over her like I did!

Last but not least, this is my 100th post! Exciting? Not really, but it is a milestone of sorts. How long do you think it'll take to reach 200? Another year? Maybe!

Since my Last Post

We've done a lot of stuff. Jack has learned to climb up on the couch, and he tries to repeat almost every sign I show him. He also has been spinning himself in circles for awhile now but I keep forgetting to brag about that. I had a birthday (yes, it was my 29th!), and I got to go out to dinner a couple of times. One was my birthday dinner with Allan and the kids. Red Lobster - YUM! The kids behaved so well and we had a great time. It was really special and nice. The other 2 times weren't about the food. I got to go meet a friend on my new favorite forum. She's from LA so it was a really special meet-up. Her Carson is just a bit older than Jack and sounds like they have a few things in common. It was so great to meet Kayla. Then, last night I got to go to dinner with Braska's mom RK, and our friend Adrienne. It was kind of a baby shower dinner for RK, as she's due literally any second now.

We had a really funny thing happen at dinner. When we came in, we had RK's gift bag with us, all pink with a cute girly saying on it. It was sitting on the table next to the very pregnant RK. After we had eaten and ordered dessert, the waitstaff started clapping and singing Happy Birthday and they were headed our way! So all 3 of us were looking around like who's having the birthday? and wouldn't ya know, they stopped right by us! We kept looking at each other trying to decide if we should say something or not and finally decided to keep our mouths shut and just laughed our heads off after they left! And here's the kicker - they CHARGED us for the dessert! It was an interesting evening all the way around but SO much fun! This story is so funny, go read RK's post about it. Her version is better than mine!

Oh and one other fun thing we did, we had a snow day! We got several inches so the kids got to actually play in the snow this time. It was Jack's first time to play in the snow and he loved it! I stood him up in it but he kept bending down to put his fingers and face in it. I finally sat him down so he could just play in that wet stuff and he had lots of fun! Here's his little cutie patootie self:

A Giveaway!

Okay, this is really cool. I've been following the blog of a lovely lady with 4 kids, the youngest of whom has ds. His name is Rhett and he is very nearly as cute as Jack! (I'm guessing Pam would say the exact opposite!) Anyway, she's begun a series of giveaways and here's the first one! It's Singing Time videos! Jack is finally starting to sign and I think these have helped A LOT! Please go check it out!

More Jack 'n crew news coming soon - I've been very lazy lately!

Want to win a Wii???

I have a friend named Brigette who is married to Joe and is mom to 3 beautiful kids. I got to meet Brigette and their daughter Josie (who has ds) a couple of times now. They are adding to their family by adopting a little sweetheart they will name Jacob. One of their fundraising efforts is a really cool drawing for a Wii! Go check out their blog to see how to enter. Your entry will go to a super cause but don't plan to win 'cause that Wii is mine!!! (insert evil giggle here)

Love to you Brigette!
