Sick :(

Jack didn't feel so good a few weeks ago, so he spent lots of time hanging out in my favorite chair and resting. I got out the thermometer to take his temperature, and this little gadget provided plenty of entertainment for sick boy. (It's the kind that you put against your temple and it gets a reading from there.)

Here's the thermometer:

You put it up here on your head:

Just kidding! It's really more like this -

Couple of important things....

Firstly, I know of a little girl who just yesterday had open heart surgery. It was quite a bit more involved than Jack's, and things didn't go well. Please say a prayer for Chrissie's recovery so she can go home to her family. If you'd like to read their story, here's a button:

Secondly, I have a couple of blog/forum friends who are stuck in Bulgaria because of that obnoxious volcano. (Heard about that?) You can read Shelley's blog to see what she and my other friend Leah are going through. To get home is going to cost them literally thousands of dollars more than what it would have last week, plus time and blah! Shelley's son is sick too. Add them to your prayers as well.

I'm thinking I have more to post. Soon.

Visit with Friends!

I'm very behind on blogging about stuff that's happened in the past month or 2. Like, what, I think I have something better to do? Just paperwork to bring a little sweetheart into our home and lives! Nevertheless, we have had a couple of fun things happen that I can share!

A few weeks ago, we got to visit with some lovely friends that we know through the world of Down syndrome! They were driving through and stopped over night so Jack and I joined them at the zoo for a little while, then we had to go home to make sure everyone got home from school okay. Then M came with Jack and I to go have pizza with them. It was truly terrific to see you Brigitte (and Josie and Katie and Owen and Jake) and Amy (and Mayson)!

Madelyn made good friends with Katie and Owen!

Mayson offered to share some pretzels with Jack. Doesn't he look like he's saying "what are you TALKING about??"

We got meet Jake for the first time (he really did like us, just having a cranky moment). He's sooooo sweet! Jacob has been home with his family for 10 months now. (I'll correct that if I'm wrong Brigitte!) Brigitte and her hubby Joe brought him home from EE and I had lots of questions about adoption for B. More will be coming I'm sure!

That's a back of Amy's head on the left, Jack in the middle, and Jane (wearing Emerson) on the right.

It was a great visit, but I could hang with these ladies for soooo much longer!

Easter!

I'm actually pretty mad at myself. We were all cleaned up, dressed up, all together, and I forgot to have someone take a pic of us! I can't believe I blew it like that! Sheesh. We ended up going to church Sat night with Allan's relatives because they were having some special stuff happen that we wanted to celebrate with them. It was 8-11pm! Never again C!

Anyway, the next day we had a lovely, leisurely Easter, complete with egg hunt! I will admit, Jack did not give one hoot about collecting eggs. Every time he was "encouraged" to pick one up, he would very happily have thrown it across the yard if it weren't for Daddy showing him how to "throw it in the bag!". He cooperated for 4 or 5, put up with getting a few more, then found a baseball in the yard and it was all over for the eggs. Oh well, the pics look good, right?

And then, I forgot to take a pic of all the kids together with their Easter baskets. Darn it all. I usually remember that one! I have individuals that maybe I'll post later. A got an electric razor (WOO HOO!!), M got an itunes card, Ty got a t-shirt with mini skateboard, and Jack got an Elmo DVD and a frog shaped straw cup. Plus everyone had various candy items and those darn peeps. I enjoy marshmallow as much as anyone, but if I'm going to eat candy, hand over the milk chocolate baby! Yummy!
