Today (Sunday, 3/21/10) is World Down Sydrome Day. It is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month to represent 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. 3 copies of the 21st chromosome = Trisomy 21= Down syndrome. I can't even begin to list all the ways Down syndrome has blessed our family. Not the least of which is all the amazing people we've gotten to meet and know and have really become members of our family! Jack is so silly, and adorable, and sweet. He's a smartie too. The other day I was folding laundry and he leaned over the basket of folded clothes. Normally, this means all that time and effort would be a waste because all those nicely folded clothes are about to be thrown about the room with wild abandon (!) so I made a grab for the basket and said "hey, you back off buddy!". I got the most innocent look along with a smile and the sign for socks! SOCKS! Yep, they were right on top! So either he was proud of himself for knowing the sign, or (more likely) he was proud of himself for using the correct sign in such a way that mommy thought he was a genius AND felt a little guilty for assuming the laundry was in danger! (Don't worry, I know that laundry was goin' down! I'm charm-able, but not stupid!)
And because of how wonderful Jackson is, and everything we've learned about ds because of having him in our lives, and because we have fallen in love with some of the most adorable little girls on the planet who happen to have ds (cough cough braska cough cough), we are adopting a sweet little girly who will become pink overdosed and loved more than she now knows possible! I CAN'T WAIT!!!
So celebrate with us! Hug someone with ds today!

Can't beat a mid-cough mention! :o)
And I realized tonight that from here on out, we can celebrate WDSD every year with our 3 "Downsies" all together for Dashlyn's birthday party! What better way to spend the day!
Oh, and yay Jack with the socks!
they are pretty amazing huh?
So...I would appreciate a followers link :)I realized I had not checked your blog for a long time and if it was on my dashboard, I would get all updates (wink, wink)
Oh my gosh! I was happily catching up on JACK and almost skipped over the last sentences... you're adopting? Wow! That's awesome! Is she from overseas like so many are coming from or in the US? Where've I been? That's HUGE. So excited for you and looking forward to your journey.
