The silence should have been a sign...

When I went in to get Jack after his nap, this is what I found:

(I had already started to move things so I could clean up but Tyler, who was nearly hysterical with laughter, said "aren't you gonna take pictures?!?". They're onto me with this blogging thing!)

It was a little bottle of powder that SOMEONE could reach from his crib. It was everywhere!

At this point, Jack was cluing in on what was happening with the camera, and helpfully lifted up his leg so I could get a good shot of the powder there.

And then thought that was hilarious. Me, not so much.

It was on just about every surface in his room, plus the wall hanging near the crib! I vaccumed everything, even Jack! He (and again Tyler) was pretty amused by that. I'm just finally starting to see the humor. :)

Today is World Down syndrome Day!

Today (Sunday, 3/21/10) is World Down Sydrome Day. It is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month to represent 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. 3 copies of the 21st chromosome = Trisomy 21= Down syndrome. I can't even begin to list all the ways Down syndrome has blessed our family. Not the least of which is all the amazing people we've gotten to meet and know and have really become members of our family! Jack is so silly, and adorable, and sweet. He's a smartie too. The other day I was folding laundry and he leaned over the basket of folded clothes. Normally, this means all that time and effort would be a waste because all those nicely folded clothes are about to be thrown about the room with wild abandon (!) so I made a grab for the basket and said "hey, you back off buddy!". I got the most innocent look along with a smile and the sign for socks! SOCKS! Yep, they were right on top! So either he was proud of himself for knowing the sign, or (more likely) he was proud of himself for using the correct sign in such a way that mommy thought he was a genius AND felt a little guilty for assuming the laundry was in danger! (Don't worry, I know that laundry was goin' down! I'm charm-able, but not stupid!)

And because of how wonderful Jackson is, and everything we've learned about ds because of having him in our lives, and because we have fallen in love with some of the most adorable little girls on the planet who happen to have ds (cough cough braska cough cough), we are adopting a sweet little girly who will become pink overdosed and loved more than she now knows possible! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

So celebrate with us! Hug someone with ds today!

I forgot to post this!

This Valentine's Day was the first real school party Jack had that I got to go see. He started school (not just baby class but school) after Halloweeen last year, and I didn't get to go to his Christmas party because I had committed to going on M's field trip which was the same day. But I got to go to the Valentine's party. And take some pictures! That I would like to share!

First they had some yummy snacks:

there was chocolate milk at this party! This face just cracks me up - she sat that cup down in front of him and this is what he looked like when he looked up at me!

We played some games:

And did a craft - decorating bags to hold all the Valentines!

It was a great day!

Had a nice day

Look, it's Jack in the box!! (hee hee)

Jack is on spring break this week. The big kids aren't. So he and I have had 2 days to hang out and watch TV and eat snacks and play! I forgot how nice it is to not have to rush to get him to school on time in the morning. I forgot how silly he is, and how fun it is to watch him play. I mean, I guess I didn't really forget, just temporarily forgot. We have a couple places to go tomorrow, but we should have time to come home and hang out some more before lunch and nap. I know school is good for him, and he gets therapy there. But c'mon, he's THREE. He needs to play. And not have a schedule. And I should get to enjoy him.

What's going on with us?

Lots of adoption stuff (YAY!).

Spring break is coming up, and it's the time of year when little snippets of warmer weather are happening more often and the kids are getting ready to lose winter coats and go play outside! M and Ty took Jack outside to play the other day and it was so muddy. He came in with mud all over his shoes. At that point I realized the boy only has one pair of shoes. oooops. Guess I should consider purchasing at least one more. Summer is easier - sandals are so washable. I also realized it may be time to start thinking about shorts and lightweight jackets. I'm having a hard time restraining myself from buying stuff for our new girl (like clearance clothes, toys, all kinds of stuff). But, since we don't know how big she is, (sigh), I'll wait. :(

Still doing the diet (blahhhhh). I'm down a few pounds, but I'm really going to have to get out and walk to see some results. It's hard. I also have to GET RID OF STUFF. This is a recurring theme around here. Since we're trying to raise money for Dashlyn, I have a growing pile of things to put in a rummage sale. I never know what to price things at though.

This is a blanket my sister-in-law sent Jack. Can you tell it has a pirate hat on top and a hook on the one corner? How cute is that? Thanks Aunt Cassandra!

BIG GIANT NEWS!!!!!

I was waiting on a few things, but I think I feel comfortable enough now to let you all in on a GIANT SECRET I've been carrying around.......

We're expecting!!

Nope, I'm not pregnant. We're adopting a precious little girl from Eastern Europe! Go here to see the blog we set up to follow our journey to bring Dashlyn home! And if you would be so kind, snatch up the button over on the right to spread the word about our girl! We're going to work on setting up some auctions, or givaways, to help fund the adoption (bringing home a child from a foreign country is very expensive you know). We already love her so much. Send us good thoughts and prayers, would ya?!
